I fly to new Delhi Tuesday week, that was a mistake. I was heading for Mumbai, but somehow got diverted in the process of booking a flight.
From a mate’s prompting, I’ve now sorted out visa, currency card, typhoid jab, and reserved one of “Yes Please’s” rooms for the first few nights. (Air Bnb is developing into a really useful service)
As a basecamp, “Yes Please” is the DBs.

Bed with built in sunbed – there’s posh
I’ve also looked into hiring an Enfield from Tony and riding up North on Highway 58 to Haridwar in the region of Uttarakhand. I know I’m only meant to be seeking shorter posts, but the prospect of a holy city on the Ganges just as it leaves the mountains for the plains was hard to overlook.
This sentiment from Lonely Planet struck a chord:
“The single most important piece of advice for any India first-timer is to try to remain calm, no matter what.”
Keep calm and carry on,
namaste come what may.
