This year my lads turned 21 and 18, so after rummaging through the memory cards I made these retrospectives. Three and a half years later I added another one for my 60th.

Words for M’s wedding
What a lovely view, past present future, its like looking out from a time machine. Time to also remember those who have contributed but cant be here. So please raise a glass to the generations and wish everyone well.
Groom’s father’s speeches aren’t as traditional as the best mans so if it’s ok george I’ll also try to embarrass M. I’ve probably got more material. So Back to the past, you ready fella. As the story goes, M was at y’s uni freshers party 5 years ago, when he was suddenly overcome by tiredness and had to lie down in the nearest bed. Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, found a bigger bed with an olive to keep it warm, succeeded at uni, found jobs, and here we are, I remember when M was converting the van how yaz kept up a steady supply of materials. I realised then what a good team they made. But going back a bit further being in a relationship wasnt always where M saw himself. I’ll illustrate that with some of his thoughts about girls, from wen he was 9 years old
Me What do you like about being a boy?
M ~ Unlike girls you don’t have to shave a lot
You can do more boisterous stuff without worrying about your skirt flapping up
You get to drink beer
You watch scarier films more often
and go on the computer more.
Me ~ If you were a girl what do you think you’d think of boys?
M ~ That sounds like a gay option!
Me ~ Do you think girls understand boys?
M ~ No not one tiny bit
(Hmm not so sure about that fella)
But seriously, Y and M have lived in very close quarters for 5 years and I don’t know a better test of a relationship. So let’s raise another glass to what they’ve already achieved, future success and happiness.
